Truth be told, I’m biased, and though I will be providing reviews on more expensive mattresses that are also healthy mattresses (meaning they do not off-gas toxic VOCs), my favorite mattress is from Keetsa Eco-Friendly Mattresses.
That is because when I did my original research to find a mattress for myself that I would feel good about promoting and selling to other people, Keetsa was the best mattress I could find from the three perspectives of health, comfort and cost.
I have owned one of their Pillow Plus queen mattresses for the past eight years and it has been the best mattress I have ever slept on.
So why did I end up choosing Keetsa?
I’ll get to that in a moment. First, I wanted to do something different by starting with the information that most people don’t even think to ask until after they choose the mattress they want to buy. That would be the mattress warranty, mattress return policy and mattress delivery information. In the interest of complete up front transparency, let’s start with those things. They are important and I think you deserve to know up front.
Keetsa Eco-Friendly Mattresses have a twelve year manufacturer’s warranty which you can read HERE. You may also be interested in the Sleep Protection Plan which covers your mattress from the kinds of accidents that usually occur from children or pets.
The details of the mattress return policy are you must give the mattress a fair try and sleep on it for a full thirty nights before contacting your retailer about a return – and you actually have up to ninety days from the date of purchase to initiate contact regarding a possible return. There is a 25% of the purchase processing fee for any mattress return.
Of course, the company cannot accept used mattresses so you will not send the mattress back.
Delivery, due to the wonderful mattress in a box technology, is able to be accomplished by Fedex. Though they cannot guarantee a particular day or time you will receive tracking information and have a good idea of when you can expect the curbside delivery. Be sure to have help on hand if you require it to move your boxed mattress to the location where you want it to be! Oh, and did I mention it is a FREE mattress delivery.
Now that all of that has been disclosed I want to let you know why I like this mattress manufacturer so much that I decided to buy one for myself.
My buying process went like this. I first visited all my local mattress stores including one where I asked what I thought were basic questions about how the mattress was made and I wasn’t getting straight answers. Instead they wanted me to try out the different mattresses and immediately start narrowing down to the one I felt most comfortable on – while they watched me.
It was too weird. It felt unnatural to be interacting with a total stranger while trying to test the beds out. Nothing felt right because the situation was too contrived for me. Then I personally witnessed one of the salespersons spraying what seemed like a whole can of Febreeze on a floor sample mattress after someone who had tried that mattress left the store.
I was already selling products online to people with multiple chemical sensitivities and others who just wanted to avoid unnecessary chemicals in their life and I was horrified! I remember thinking, there must be a better way to buy a mattress.
Thankfully there is. And crazy as it sounds, research is already showing people who speak with someone who is knowledgeable about mattresses over the phone tend as a group to be as satisfied as people who buy a mattress in a mattress store.
And After eight years of selling Keetsa Eco-Friendly mattresses my experience has confirmed this for me. In all that time I have only needed to process one return.
In my next post I will go over what is important to me about a mattress and the top questions to ask when you are shopping for a mattress. I hope you will use it as your guide to help you find the best place online to buy your new mattress.
